Biography.


I was born on July 24, 1990 in Arezzo, Italy.

I received the B.sc. degree cum laude in Automation Engineering from the University of Siena in 2012.

I received the M.sc. degree cum laude in Computer and Automation Engineering from the University of Siena in 2015 with a thesis entitled Model estimation for photovoltaic power generation forecasting on cloudy days.

Since 2015 I am a Ph.D. Student at the Department of Information Engineering and Mathematics (University of Siena) under the supervision of Prof. Gianni Bianchini and Prof. Antonio Vicino.

Research.


My research activity is current focused on:

Model estimation for photovoltaic generation forecasting

This work is focused on the development of model to address the problem of photovoltaic (PV) generation forecasting in a scenario where measurements of meteorological variables, i.e. solar irradiance and temperature, are not available at the plant site. This scenario is relevant in the integration of a large number of PV plants into the grid.

Optimal control of HVAC systems in buildings

This research activity is focused on the development of a Model Predictive Control strategy to optimally manage the HVAC system, the storage devices (thermal and electrical) and the PV generation under thermal comfort and technological constraints. Building participation in a Demand-Response program is also considered.
