Since 2015, I am a Ph.D. student in Information Engineering and Science at the University of Siena and at the Department of Advanced Robotics (ADVR) of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Genoa, Italy, under the supervision of Domenico Prattichizzo and Darwin Caldwell.
I was awarded with the B.S. degree in Computer and Information Engineering in 2013 and with the M.S. degree in Computer and Automation Engineering in 2015 from the University of Siena, Italy.

My main research interests include robotic grasping and manipulation, underactuated and compliant robotic hands, and educational robotics.

Organized Workshops

M. A. Roa, D. Prattichizzo, M. Malvezzi, M. Pozzi, Workshop on Evaluation and Benchmarking of Underactuated and Soft Robotic Hands, 2016 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2016), Daejeon, Korea, October 9-14. Link
The workshop aimed at looking for answers to the growing need of mathematical tools and shared standards in the emergent field of soft manipulation. In particular, it tackled the problem of finding innovative ways to evaluate grasps with underactuated and soft robotic hands.

October 9-14, 2016

Projects

I am currently involved in three European Projects: SoftPro, SOMA, and INBOTS.
