The research activity of the Electrical Engineering area is mainly concerned with the analysis of the dynamical behavior of nonlinear circuits, with special emphasis on nonlinear circuit models of artificial neural networks.
The main research topics are:
- Stability of nonlinear circuits with non-smooth nonlinearities.
- Neural architectures for solving non-smooth nonlinear programming problems.
- New methods for trajectory convergence of neural networks, and robustness of trajectory convergence of cellular neural networks.
- Bifurcations, sustained oscillations and complex dynamics in nonlinear circuits.
Other research activities, such as development of robust estimation techniques in mobile robotics applications, are carried on in cooperation with the Control Systems research area.
